Why should i choose 48VDC lighting system solution

A 48V lighting system could be the solution to your problems like voltage drop and too much wiring during outdoor landscape  ultra long illumination or indoor large scale bright illumination
Do we really need 48V LED strips for your LED project?
Voltage drop is a common problem when installing long runs of LED strips. There are many ways to solve this problem: wire sizes, parallel connections, amplifiers/power repeaters, etc. But now more economic way simply choosing the right LED strip voltage 48V can save our time and money.

For projects where we need longer runs of lights, 48-voltage DC lighting system could be the solution, they are less susceptible to voltage drop, meaning we can connect longer lines of lines without needing an amplifier or parallel wires.


How  48VDC strip lights reduce the effects of voltage drop?

LED chips are wired in series into groups. Each group contains some LED chips and a resistor. Every section has a certain amount of resistance to electricity being pushed through it. The longer the combined sections get, the bigger the resistance (and the voltage drop) gets. Eventually, it gets large enough to impact the LED brightness. When the voltage gets doubled (24V to 48V), the current is halved, which causes the voltage drop to be reduced by half as well.

48V DC light fixtures suffer from less wasted energy. LEDs use such a small amount of energy that this doesn’t add up to much for small installations. But, the difference in power usage can become significant for commercial installations. Commercial installations also require a larger amount of wires and connectors, a 48V LED light bar or a 48V LED light strip system can get away with half of the electrical conductor requirements.Like wire gauge can be smaller as well.

A thicker layer of copper means electricity can flow through more easily (less electrical resistance). This will create less voltage drop and allow longer runs.

It will also dissipate heat more quickly. The LEDs will stay cooler, which will ultimately help to maximize their lifespan.

The amount of copper in an LED strip is usually measured in ounces per square foot. Typical values for an LED strip are 1oz-4oz. Higher power requires more copper.




Once we have an application that requires long runs of strips, it may be a good idea to use a 48V LED strip. But even 48V LED lights have a limit. we may have to use other techniques to stop our LEDs from fading at the end. For example, using one of our amplifiers.

Q: Do all LED strip lights have a voltage drop?

A: All low-voltage LED strips, such as 12V, 24V, or 48V DC LED lights, will have a voltage drop. Because for the same power consumption, the lower the voltage, the bigger the current. According to Ohm’s law, voltage equals resistance multiplied by current. The resistance of a conductor is constant. The greater the current, the greater the voltage drop. This is also the reason why people use high voltage to transmit electricity.

Q: What can I do to avoid voltage drop on my 48V DC light fixtures?

A: Divide long runs of LED strip lights into shorter strips, then connect additional “Parallel” wires from the power supply to each new LED strip. This process can be repeated as many times as needed as long as the power supply can handle the LED strips total wattage consumption.

Q: How does voltage drop affect 48 Volt LED strip lights?

A: A voltage drop on our 48V light basically means a loss of brightness towards the end of the LED strip. Less than the minimum current can cause an LED to flicker, operate less brightly, or shift in the color.

Q.1How to cut 48V led strip lights?

A.1:48V led strip just like 12v,24V led strip,can be cut,cutting line on the dc 48v led strip light, then use a scissor to cut it ,our 48VDC is 10cm cut unit.

Q:How to connect the 48V LED Strip Light by electric iron welding?

1.Prepare the two 48V led strips you need to weld and align the welding points on the same line.
2. Heat the iron to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
3. Stick a bit of solder on the iron
4. Put the tin wire on the solder joints, and put the soldering iron on for 1-2 seconds.
5. Solder tin on both ends of the strips
6. Align the two ends of the soldering points and put the iron on them for 1 second  to 2 seconds
7. After finishing welding, wait for it to cool.
Q:How to install the 48V led strip?
A:
1.Cut off the power supply before connection.
2. Tear off the back adhesive from the connection point in turn and stick it to the installation position of profiles or your applications.
(Please pay attention do not tear off the adhesive tape on the back of the strip light at one time,section by section.)
3. Connect the cables of the 48V led strips with the power supply.
4. When finished sticking and cables connection, then turn on the power supply.
